How to Write a Job Analysis Questionnaire

For the NTPS Job Evaluation System

Available in full day or half day options, this program assists staff, supervisors and managers to write a Job Analysis Questionnaire (JAQ) for the evaluation of a position. More than this, the program also helps participants to understand the wider context of the JAQ, what it is used for, and how it fits with other human resources frameworks.

Full Day Course Outcomes:

This is a hands-on, practical program where participants not only gain knowledge but also develop their skills by working on a JAQ of their own choice.

By the end of the course participants will:

  • understand the intent of a JAQ and how it fits into the Job Evaluation System
  • understand the significant differences between a JAQ and a Job Description
  • understand how the Job Evaluation System works and fits into wider human resource management
  • understand the responsibilities of supervisors and delegates in approving JAQs
  • know how to go about answering each section of the JAQ
  • have practiced answering all sections by starting to draft a JAQ of your choice
  • have access to 30 minutes personal coaching to assist with writing a JAQ in the three months after the program.

Denise has written over 800 JAQs across a wide range of disciplines and agencies, is an accredited evaluator in the Job Evaluation System, and has conducted numerous highly regarded JAQ courses throughout the Territory over the past nine years. Denise has extensive Northern Territory Public Sector experience as a human resource executive and consultant and has also worked with Commonwealth government agencies and the private sector.

This is information only  program is designed for participants who want to understand the JAQ context and how to answer questions, are already confident in conceptualising and writing other job related documentation, or those who do not have an immediate need to prepare a JAQ. Those who would prefer a more practical approach should attend the Full Day Workshop.
